I Played Poker with Daniel Negreanu and Michael Mizrachi: The GG Creator Meetup in Montreal
The day before the $5,000 Main Event, I played the GG creator meetup cash game at Playground with Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Abby Merk, Greg Goes All In, Jeff Platt and other creators. I had so much fun that I skipped the $1,000 progressive bounty event, and after a top-up, a big four-bet pot, and a $100 GG bonus, I cashed out $10 ahead.

Two plans for one day
The day before the $5,000 Main Event in Montreal had two things on the schedule: the GG creator meetup cash game at Playground, and the $1,000 progressive bounty event, a shot at a WSOP Circuit ring.
I came into the series with a $30,000 bankroll. The goal was to win a ring and a big score, and the Main Event was the one I most wanted.
How a progressive bounty works
In a progressive bounty tournament, every player has a price on their head. Say your starting bounty is $500. If I knock you out, I win $250 in cash right away, and the other $250 is added to my bounty.
Keep knocking players out and your bounty keeps growing, which makes you the biggest target at the table. You are not only trying to survive and win chips. You are trying to collect cash while everyone else is trying to collect you.
The creator meetup
The meetup was a low-stakes cash game with a room full of people I love watching: Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Abby Merk, Greg Goes All In, Jeff Platt, and more. Abby had already cashed twice that series. Greg was as funny in person as he is on camera.
My favorite discovery: if you are playing at Playground, the food is free, and the portions are huge.
A top-up and a big four-bet pot
I lost a big three-way all-in early, so I topped up. That is the nice thing about cash games: you can reload and feel rich again.
Then a big one. The lowjack raised, I three-bet from the button, and the big blind four-bet. I moved all in, and it was one of the biggest pots of the night. Later I showed down pocket kings.
Skipping the $1,000 event
I was having so much fun that I skipped the progressive bounty event to keep playing. When else do you get to sit at a table like that?
I also won a $100 GG bonus, which GG added to random pots for whoever won the hand. I bought in for $850 and cashed out $860, a profit of $10 CAD. I will take it.
Thank you to Playground and GG for hosting. Next up was the $5,000, $10,000,000 guaranteed Main Event.
Questions viewers asked
- What is a progressive bounty tournament?
- Every player has a bounty. When you knock someone out, you win half of their bounty in cash right away, and the other half is added to your own bounty. The more players you eliminate, the bigger the target on your head.
- Is the food free at Playground Poker Club?
- Yes. Players at Playground get free food while they play, and the portions are big.
- Who played in the GG creator meetup game?
- Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Abby Merk, Greg Goes All In, Jeff Platt, and other poker creators and pros.
- What is a top-up in a cash game?
- Adding more chips to your stack between hands, up to the table maximum. Unlike a tournament, you can reload in a cash game whenever you want.
